Merav spent part of her summer as a camper at Camp Tel Yehuda in Barryville, New York. She really enjoyed herself, was in a small group of kids, and made a lot of new friends. Merav had travelled to the States with her friend, Aylona.
Raute left for the states with her grandparents, Doris and Reuven Kaufman, on August 15th. After three days of touring New York City with them, they picked up Merav and Aylona at the camp, and brought them back to the big city. There the girls had a great time, seeing the Statue of Liberty, exploring the stores of China Town, seeing the toys at F.A.O. Schwartz and visiting the Plaza Hotel. The girls then travelled down by train to Baltimore, where they visited David and Sandy Abramoff and family. With them they toured Baltimore (the Aquarium), drove down to Washington D.C. (some of the museums) and went to an exciting Six Flags Amusement Park. The visit with the Abramoffs ended with a spectacular party to honor Uncle Abe and Aunt Leni's 50th Wedding Anniversary - the party took place on a boat sailing around New York Harbor.
The girls then flew up to Buffalo, to spend time with Debby and Barry Schwartz and family. Besides visiting Niagra Falls, both from the American and Canadian sides, the girls had one thing on their mind - shopping! Debby or Barry would drop them off at a mall, and the girls would shop, shop, shop. Yes, they did buy a lot of clothes, and only agreed to finish this unique expedition when their money ran out.
It was a great summer for the girls - which made it a little difficult to land and get back to a daily routine of school and homework. But there are plenty of pictures, and happy memories from an exciting summer.
