We've all sinned... all of us have done something bad in our lives. We all know it. I've done it, you've done it...we've all done it. So here's the big whopping problem... how are we as humans ever supposed to reach a perfect God if we are sinful. The truth is, on our own we can't. The penalty of sin, according to the Word of God, is spiritual separation from God as well as physical. DEATH!!! That word sparks so many people to fear. But death should not be something to feared.... God has a wonderful plan for your life and your life on earth is just the start of something wonderful. There is more in the afterlife, either in heaven or hell. And the thing is you yourself make the choice where you wanna be.
You see God loved us so much, that He could not break His own Word on sin meaning death. Though God is 100% love, we have to remember that He is also 100% Just and 100% Holy. What if your best friend got caught for a speeding ticket. Rightfully if he really was speeding he should be convicted. If the trial showed that the defendant was 100% guilty without a shadow of a doubt, yet the judge of the trial was the defendants father and because he loved him so much pronounced the verdict as not guilty....would that be fair? I didn't think so... So much more is God THE just judge. He love us so much, but breaking His own laws just out of love... do you realize how many laws would be broken?
No see what God did was a way better plan, though it may not seem how we would have done it... God's plans are so much more meaningful. You see we are all guilty under God's law...not one person can say they are not guilty. We have all sinned. But what God was something amazing... He came down in the form of Jesus Christ, who was 100% God and 100% man, and lived a sinless life. He never broken ANY of the commandments, not even by accident. Because of this He was known as the "lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."
So let's go back to our analogy, with the judge and the speeder. If the judge gave justice, and was fair under the law the speeder would be guilty and have to pay a fine, and if he can't pay the fine spent time in jail. What if now, the judge, who is his father, gave the money on behalf of the son to pay for the ticket? The judge would not be breaking any laws to help his son, and show his love for the son. So in this scenario, Justice would be served, no laws are broken and the father still shows his love.
You see that's what God did in sending His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. You see in the old Jewish days, a sacrifice was made to atone the people for their sins. Sin came into the world by the way of Adam and Eve. They were the first people on earth. They were the ones whom God wanted to be in constant communication and fellowship with. However they both sinned, and disobeyed God by taking of the fruit in a garden God had given to them. The garden of Eden. There were so many trees, animals and everything was good and at peace. The animals weren't wild, they all ate from the trees and not each other. But after Adam and Eve sinned, the whole world had gone wild.
Adam and eve tried hiding from God, but they couldn't. God then banished them from the paradise of the garden of Eden. They were to wander the earth, and till it by themselves. But God still talked to them. And because of them everyone sins today. The sins entered through one man, Adam. After this God had told them to atone for sins by taking a lamb or a goat, or an animal sacrifice, by placing their hands on the sacrifice, which would put their sins on the animal sacrifice basically, and clean them from their sins. God had promised that a Messiah would come who would take away the sins of the world. There are many prophecies in the Old Testament which spoke of the coming Messiah and what his line of Birth would be (through King David's bloodline), what kind of mother he would have(a virgin), what kind of death he would have (crucifixion), plus many more.
That Messiah came. His name was Jesus. He was an advocate of love. He taught the message that it was better to show love than hatred. No matter what the situation was. He was born of the virgin Mary, who was a descendant of King David. It was also better to forgive, because isn't it God who forgives us? So why should we not forgive someone else? who are we that we shouldn't forgive? He never sinned, because He was God, He was tempted, but didn't sin. We all get tempted. So through this Jesus was showing that if we pray to God and have our eyes set on Him, we can also not sin. We can live a good life. He never harmed anyone, and he performed many miracles. He raised people from the dead, he turned water into wine, he healed the sick from life-long diseases and one-time diseases alike. He even told others He was God. The leaders of the religious council at the time disliked Jesus, because they wanted the peoples money, and didn't care about their spiritual welfare.
His ministry was only 3 years long. But in those 3 years He did much more than any other person in showing who the true God was. At the end of his ministry the religious leaders had Jesus arrested for claiming that He was the Son Of God. Now think about it. This guy claims He is the Son of God, the highest offense to any Jewish person at the time. But when you look at His ministry, He was not selfish, He didn't ask anyone for anything except that they devote their lives to God. He didn't even sin. He asked people to tell Him if they had seen Him sinned and not one person could open their mouth because they knew He didn't. He was unselfish, He didn't seek to get money. He just wanted the love of God the Father to be preached to everyone, and that they would come to know God.
When he was arrested, he was sentenced to die by crucifixion. His charge was that he claimed to be the "Son of God". The death he died, was the most humiliating way to die. They put a crown of thorns upon His head. They put a purple robe on Him. They spat at Him. They beat Him. Then after that they had made Him to take a cross which was the size of His body all the way to the place he would be crucified. He was crucified by putting a nail through both his hands and his feet. and put on the cross left to die. What this would do is that the person would lose blood, eventually they would tire out and breath deeply. Each time the person breathes, this would push them up and down against the nails. causing a bigger pain, a bigger wound, and more blood. They mocked him till his death. Now if you've seen the movie, "The Passion" maybe you'd understand it more
But when he was on the cross, even at that point, He cried to God the Father, and asked Him to forgive the people around them for they didn't realize what they were doing to Jesus. Even at His last breath Jesus was thinking of the people even though they were persecuting Him. And the last minute of His life, when Jesus died an earthquake occurred, and the sun became black. This really did happen. It's very real. The reason for Jesus dying on the cross? Not just because the people arrested Him. It was because God had a purpose for Jesus life. Jesus was to show the world the perfect example. He was to die on the cross, because Jesus was the perfect Lamb to sacrifice for our sins. He took at the time of His crucifixion all of our sins upon His body.
Here's the best part of this whole thing. Jesus resurrected 3 days after His death on the cross. He came back to life and told his followers and others who weren't His followers (see Saul who converted and became Paul, a famous Jewish man known to be a great persecutor of the early church) who He was. He was God's Son. The 2nd part of the Trinity. The Trinity is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Father Loved us so much, a race of people that are so not worthy of His love, because it is very great. But he loved us so much he Gave Jesus to die on the cross to atone for our sins. The Holy Spirit is what you can equate to your conscience. He's the one who pushes you to knowing who God is. This is not 3 separate Gods, this is one God but 3 parts. Think of God as your body. The Father as the head, Jesus as the hands and body doing the will of the father, and the Holy Spirit as the legs and feet, going out and making sure that the message is spread to everyone. They are 3 different parts, but all still one body doing the same work. We say that The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are 3 persons, but 1 personality. Completely unified. Three persons in one. NOT 3 GODS but 3 as 1.
What is the message? That Jesus died on the cross, rose again on the 3rd day, and overcame temptation, sin and Death for us. If we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ dying on the cross for our sin, accept Him into our life, and make Him the Lord of our Life we will be free from the bondage of sin of before. God says once we do this we are a new creation. Because of God we CAN be freed OF the sentence of sin over us, and find freedom FROM sin through Christ Jesus. Through Him we can have forgiveness and have our sentence paid for by HIS death. We were supposed to die, but HE died for us. He took our place. He paid the price for us. We have to ask him to forgive us of our sins that we have committed and ask him to come into our lives. Here is a good prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for giving your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins. I accept your free gift of salvation, which Jesus paid for me in advance on the cross. I was purchased by His blood flowing on the cross. I'm sorry and repent of my old sins Lord God, and ask that you would make me a new creation. I believe that you did this through the work of Jesus on the cross. I chose to live the right life, and walk down the right path. Help me to learn more about You. And Let me forever be greatful for your love for us. I ask for your blessing in my new life, that i may live for you. Amen.

Think of that. God had come in human form to show us how to live, so that we may in perfect communication with Him. He loved us so much he suffered humiliation and torture just so we could be in eternity with Him. People today search for a God they can know. How much more can you know God? He came in human form so that we would know Him more, and know that there is the right way. Do not be fooled, there is no other way to heaven but by Jesus name. Jesus said "If anyone knows me, he also knows the Father", He also said "I am the way the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through me" I already said how Jesus was sinless, therefore he never lied. Why would He lie about this?

I do not fully support the take that Catholics aren't Christians. I believe there are many true Catholics who are Christians, but just as in every other church, there are many who profess to be, and aren't!
Answering Islam A good website which helps to show Muslims the miscommunication and misunderstanding they have of true Biblical Christianity, and has good studies in showing why Jesus Christ is the Messiah of the Jewish Scriptures. It also has lots of testimonies of Muslims who are now Christians.
Brownsville Revival A church in Pensacola, Florida that has been having manifestations of the Holy Spirit and a renewal and revival. They have a strong emphasis on reaching people for Christ. One of my favourite pastor's Steve Hill is an evangelist at this churhc. You can even watch the sermons online. I recommend Steve HIll's sermons.
