vee: here's the story--
NIGEL & The Blues !

Nigel (the K-Mart security guard 21/6) made a bet with me on the State Of Origin. The bet was:
BLUES WON : Nigel gets a cream pie in the face
QLD WON: I get the cream pie in the face.

Anyway, I only make bets (and non money bets too) when I am completely confident in my team winning. Here: in the blues winning. Well come game two : the BLUES win! Come game three: THE BLUES BLUESWASH qld !!!! But the bet was to be fulfilled after Game Two anyhow because the Blues won Game one and Game two (there r only 3 origin games in total). After a lot of putting off.. and not finding each other. EXCEPT for Saturdays when I work in K-Mart in the Café they have at the back (“rear of the store”). Anyhow.. the bet was fulfilled on Saturday 21st June 1996.
(days, hrs, mins, secs)until the 1 yr anniversary of this event!!

Nigel approached me (I was ‘working’) and he said we MUST figure out a day to fulfil the bet.. because he told me in an earlier meeting that he never leaves a bet ‘unpaid’. Same here when I am the WINNER! (I’m a v-sore loser.) He said sumthan along the lines of “We” or “You” must get this bet done today or sometime this week. I said how about today! (I had been waiting for ages to do it!) He asked me what time I finished .. 3:30 ish .. he told me he finished at 5:30… so he said sumthan like ‘well that won’t work’. But I came back with I will wait… besides I need to do a few thangs…he said OK then. He’ll go look for a pie (after I reminded him off the fact he was to pay for it).

I did have a few things to do.. as in mailing Phil and Bernie packages. I had to buy a few extra things for the ‘packages’ and then get the actual stamps etc from the post office store.

Anyhow, I was TOTALLY on a major high that day. I could NOT wait. Anyway. I finished work after what seemed like days.. because the day went so slow.. it wasn’t THAT busy. During work.. Nigel’s first problem was: no cream pies anywhere. Then I suggested Shaving Cream in like a pie bottom. No shaving cream (He wasn’t doing this on purpose.. so he tells me..but I believe him). Then after that problem I came up with an idea when I was filling up the coffee filter. Use a coffee filter (two of em because one is too thin) and fill the bottom with cream. Because Nigel was going to still be in his uniform when I did it! He didn’t want me to use too much cream. Which ended up NOT being the way. OOPS! Skipping ahead of myself.. back on track… Anyhow. He donated $2 towards the cream and the filter. Good thing he did too. Because when I took it out.. the filter was wet. (it had been in the fridge). So I used another 2 filters to hold the cream. Then because the cream was soaking through the filters and marking the table.. I looked for a bowl.. small enough to either use or hold it. I did both. I used the bowl to hold the extra cream in it…

Anyhow, I was trying to find out from Nigel where I could do it. He said “I will tell you at the last minute.” Which he did. Back on track… I bought a dessert bowl in complete secrecy. He didn’t no what I had bought until the last minute. J hehehehe. What I did with it is filled up the bowl with extra cream because the other cream had melted! Anyhow. One of the staff I talk to..she gave me the idea of borrowing a camera. I couldn’t understand where the first girl was (an embarrassing moment! I will NEVER reveal) so she gave the 2nd idea. Which I wish worked. I went to the photo mini lab. Which I had been back and forth from HEAPS of times because of photos… back on track again.. And asked the BLUES supported there (Steve or sumthan his name) if I could borrow one of the display cameras to take a photo of Nigel with the cream on his face. Nigel told me at the beginning when we agreed to do it that day .. no witnesses.. no photos.. etc. Anyhow. I went there (so had Nigel earlier on) and they told me that Nigel said I agreed to taking no photos. I did. But hey! I wanted to take a photo. ONE photo is all I was asking. I had approached Nigel about that as well. But no go. But the reason behind the no photo deal even when the negative would be disposed of is because of the Kodak Photo Magic. It basically can make any number of copies .. ok up to 9 photos on a piece of paper ….from enlargements to reduction. So that is why.

The time came. I still had no clue as to where it would be done. He took me with the cream in the filters (I had added the cream from the bowl into the filters)…. To the staff room. I bloody should have known!! The staff room was THE perfect place to do it.. It had no security cameras to capture the moment and plus it had teacloths and a sink. Then again I had never actually been in that room for more than 1 minute. This is what happened: He got a T-shirt (too protect his pants and uniform) and I squished all of it into his face! What a moment !! He not only got it in his face he ended up having some in his hair !! Major J Smile! I ended up with some still on my fingers. Some also landed on the floor. What could have (and i wished now) happened : He got a T-shirt (too protect his pants and uniform) and I squished all of it into his face! Then one of the mini lab guys comes in and takes a photo!!

You no what really irks me (not a lot but somewhat) is that today when I saw Nigel .. he said he would have allowed a photo if hackled long enough!

So my advice to people everywhere: Make a bet ONLY when you r majorly confident you will win! Plus make sure you can get a photo! It would be a classic moment captured on film! Anyhow. Every time I think of this moment: :-) Happiness!
