Double Six Tragedy

On 6th June 1976, 4.30 pm, a Fokker Friendship was preparing to land. Suddenly, eyewitnesses said it lost power and crashed in the shallow seawaters of Sembulan. Everyone on board was killed. Not just anyone, but the leaders of Sabah; not just any leader, but the big guy himself: Tun Fuad @ Donald Stephens. Since then, the event has always been hotly discussed. Was there a plot behind it? Some people think so. Fuad's Berjaya had just toppled Usno in the 1976 state elections.

Recently, a ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the tragedy was held in KK. The organising committee for the event was chaired by none other than Datuk Harris Salleh.
