Sabah State Elections (18-19th February 1994) Facts and Figures
Well this was special to me because this was the first time I voted.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) - 48 candidates (max).
Barisan Nasional (BN) - 48 candidates (max). BN is made up of Sabah UMNO (31), Akar Bersatu (7), SAPP (7) and LDP (3).
Parti Demokratik Setiasehati Kuasa Rakyat Bersatu Sabah (Setia) - 15 candidates.
Parti Barisan Rakyat Sabah Bersekutu (Bersekutu) - 5 candidates
PAS - 3 candidates
DAP - 2 candidates
Independent - 35 candidates
156 candidates accepted, 5 nomination rejected (3 Setia, 1 Bersekutu, I Independent)> There were 253 candidates in the 1990 state elections. There were 24 nomination centres.
Straight fight in 14 constituencies, 3-corner in 15, 4-corner in 10, 5-corner in 8 and 6-corner (!) in one.
As for the lowest number of votes garnered. Jiniun Jimin got 4 votes in Tenom (1994 elections) while 1 guy got 6 votes in Tambunan (1990 elections).
598,312 registered voters.

The immediate results were PBS 25, BN 23. But after an incredible episode, PBS was left with only 4, with 44 going to BN. The only people left as PBS assemblymen were Pairin himself, Dr. Maximus Ongkili, Amir Kahar and ?. Later Amir Kahar joined Umno.

Past election results
1976 DUN: Berjaya 28, Usno 20; my father challenged the great Tun Fuad Stephens at Kiulu and managed NOT to lose his deposit, in fact getting a fair number of votes (1,000+) to Stephen's 2000+.
1981 DUN: Berjaya 43, Usno 5
1985 DUN: PBS 25, Usno 16, Berjaya 6, Pasok 1; the greatest upset was when unknown Kadoh Agundong defeated CM Datuk Harris Salleh at Tenom.
