I've been developing a program for my Cassiopeia E-10 which I call FlashReader.   This program reads text one word at at time.

I saw a program on television explaining that some people have difficulty reading because they have trouble controlling their eye movement.  Their eyes jump around re-scanning the same words or lines, slowing down their reading speed.

What the study found is that they could greatly increase the speed of reading by centering the word they are reading on the screen.  Basically, each word was flashed one word at a time.  In fact, the researcher went on to explain that anyone can read much faster this way than by reading words on paper.

Another problem with other readers for the Palm Size PC is you either have to keep hitting the scroll button - which is tiring, or use an auto-scroll which is, invariably, too slow.   The slowness seems to be related to the speed of the machine more than anything.  These problems seem to go away when you flash one word at a time.

Also, with readers you have to balance the display size with how fast you can read.   The smaller the type, the faster you typically can read.   This problem also goes away when you flash one word at a time.  You can make the font as large as you like.

Coming soon... Screen shots.
