Meat
 

A very good quality beef has been processed in the Azores for some time, particularly on São Miguel, Terceira and Pico Islands; thus there has been little export of surplus livestock.

Pork meat processing has an equally enormous potential, due to its quality and its escape from the African swine plague.

 
Fish and shellfish
 

With an economic exclusive zone of 1 million square meters including banks with considerable volumes of maritime resources, the Azores Autonomous Region processes great potential for the development of the fishing and related industries.

There is a wide variety of fish in the Azorean sea.
Concerning shellfish, the better known in the Azores is the limpet (lapa) which is served different ways, but grilled, is just delicious.
The "cavaco" (lobster family) is also well know and appreciated as well as spider-crab (santola), crabs (caranguejos) and music shell (búzios). The octopus (polvo) is also very appreciated as well as calamary (lulas) which are abundant in our seas.

Cheese's
 

There are very good and diferent kind of cheese in the Region being the São Jorge one the best known of all island and of international fame. Queijo da ilha, fresh goat's milk cheese, is also very good and well known.
