Biographical Information

Filipe Le Velly de Sousa Lima.
Born on August 5, 1952 (same day as Napoleon Bonaparte and Neil Armstrong).
Sign: Leo, and very proud of it!
Place of Birth: Home Sweet Home: Rua da Fabrica, 20, Rosario, Lagoa, Sao Miguel, Azores.
Father: Eng. Jaime de Sousa Lima.
Mother: Helene Simone Le Velly Rei de Sousa Lima.
Up to 6th grade I went to School in Azores, after that I went to Colegio dos Carvalhos, a Jesuit School in OPorto, Portugal I came back to the island in 1969 to finish High School.
In January 1973 I went to the Army, as a "forced volunteer", until July 1975. I was there during the April 1974 "coup d'etat"!
After that I went to France than to England, where I stayed for two years, learning english and also went to Havering Technical College.
In the summer of 1976, met a girl in Azores, on vacation. In June 21st., 1977 I went to spend a couple of weeks in USA and stayed there for almost 4 years. I got married to Ana, "the girl I had met during my vacation", in May 27th 1978, in New Bedford, Massachussetts.
We have three kids. The two oldest ones were born in New Bedford - Anna born December 30, 1978 and Philip born February 17, 1980. In December 1980 we came back to Azores, where we have been since then. Our third daughter Alice was born here in May 23rd 1984.
Since May 1981 I've been working at Pondel and Araujo & Machado, both are poultry farms, specialized on broilers production, Which belongs to the Grupo Sousa Lima, owned by my Family. And I love chickens!!!!

United States of America, Brasil, Spain, Baleares, Italy, France, England, Holand, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Thailand, Singapore, Mainland Portugal, Madeira and Porto Santo.

Radio ham

I am a Radio Ham since July 1973, and now a Class A Operator . My call sign CU2BD. My wife's call sign is CU2YAL, "my personal QSL Manager" I would have never answered all those QSL's if it wasn't for her! ... isn't that nice?!

The sea

I'm very much of a sea lover and already owned three motor boats.
The one I have now is over 28 years old, it was first built as a whaling boat and now converted as a cabin cruiser. Her name is Espadarte XXX and she is 42 feet long and still going strong (I plan to have a picture of her here)
I enjoy big game fishing.

Golf

Most recently I started playing golf, but I won't tell about my handicap yet!.

Others

I play spanish guitar since I was 12, and I enjoy it very much When on vacation I make some experiences with watercolors.
Since I don't like sugar, the only sweet thing I like is my wife...
