Wayne, training Sandy, and us
We started the day at the Magic Kingdom - but with a special purpose. My co-worker Dave Smith (that's his real name - or so he claims! Maybe it's John Doe...) has a brother that works at the Magic Kingdom. Wayne, who is a trainer at Tomorrowland (he signed my guestbook) met us at 9am and took us to the control tower at Space Mountain. We were in the tower no more than a minute when Wayne announced to us that the ride would be shutting down, because the unloading area was getting backed up. We went to the back of the ride, and started snapping pictures. More of them appear on our BONUS PICTURES!
Actually, the ride went down THREE times in the hour that we were there. Once because a disabled person needed to get off, and the CMs didn't space out the cars enough, another time someone lost their expensive sunglasses, and a cast member had to go look for them, and later the man insisted going down there and looking for himself. All in all we enjoyed it, and I now feel qualified to run Space Mountain (maybe I could become a Cast Member... hmmm...)
We then went to MGM Studios, and rode Star Tours, The Great Movie Ride, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Unfortunately, it began to rain enough that they couldn't do the final plane scene. But as always, it was excellent.
We decided to save the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for last. For anyone that doesn't know, the Tower of Terror (pictured here - you're looking at the side of it - for a front view look at last year's photos) takes you 13 stories in the air, then drops you FASTER than the speed of gravity. Josh decided that he wanted to ride it. We tried to talk him out of it (after all, the Haunted Mansion scared him). He wouldn't listen, so we decided to let him try it. All the way into the elevator, we tried to give him another chance to leave, but he ignored us. We rode up to the 5th floor, saw some cool effects, shot up to the 13th floor, and the doors opened. This kid looked BORED! We dropped, shot back up to the top, and dropped again! It shook Jeff and I up more than this kid! Wow.
Jeff and Josh went home to go to bed, and Lea and I travelled to Pleasure Island. We don't drink, but we enjoy going. We always catch the Comedy Warehouse, a comedy troupe that does improvisation comedy (similar to what you might see on Comedy Central's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?") It's always great! I'm sure a lot of the stories they make up are scripted with variations, but they always deliver it fresh, making it seem like it's their first show ever.
