Types of Services.

Basic Access Interface (BAI)

Subscribers can install 8 terminal equipment in one ISDN wire pair. Three channels are available; Two 64kbps B channels for voice data, graphics and video (digital) signal transmission; and one 16kbps D channel for controlling calls at B channels as well as to request for ISDN services. Note that a B channel allows two different forms of communication to be transmitted simultaneously.

Fees.

  1. Deposit 3,000 baht.
  2. Installation fee 3,700 baht (1 set/1 plug)
  3. Monthly fee 100 baht.
  4. Call rate.
    • a) local 3 baht per call
    • b) long distance TOT standard rates.

Primary Rate Interface (PRI)

This type connects the user's ISDN PABX through fiber optic cable. The service gives 30 64 kbps B channels and one 64 Kbps D channel, 30 communication sequipment units can be installed and used simultaneously through an ISDN PABX.

Fees :

  1. Deposit 90,000 baht.
  2. Installation fee 100,500 baht
  3. Monthly fee 7,500 baht/PRI
  4. Call rate
    • a) local 3 baht per call.
    • b) long distance TOT standard rates.

Supplementary Services.

  1. Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP), displays the ISDN number of an incoming call on user's telephone screen.

  2. Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIR), allows the calling user not to display his ISDN number on the phone screen of the end receiver.

  3. Direct Dialing in (DDI), user can bypass operator control when calling another party connected on the same PABX.

  4. Sub-Address, User can assign different numbers (to be added to the seven principal ISDN digits) to each terminal equipment.

  5. Multiple Subscriber Numbers (MSN), application for multiple ISDN numbers are accepted. A monthly fee of 100 baht per number is being charged.

  6. User to user Signalling, users can leave messages on the called party's terminal.

  7. Terminal Portability, user can move the terminal during communication.

Equipment that can be used in an ISDN environment.

  1. Original Equipment; through and ISDN Terminal Adapter, older equipment such as analogue phones, G3 fax machines, data modems, telex, teletex and videotex can be connected to an ISDN line.

  2. ISDN equipment; includes ISDN digital phones, G4 fax machines, PCs with ISDN card or digital modem, videophone and video-conferencing equipment.

  3. PABX; ISDN PABX is recommended. Some older PABXx can be upgraded to become ISDN compatible.
