Nightlife and fun things!

This is not a hard area to get into, but then again it is. The reason for this being is that there are sooooooooo many things you can do, and I can't list them all. Cancun is a resort after all, and you probably won't have any difficulties finding something to do. But just in case you get stuck or don't know where to start, here is a list of things I know of that are available for some fun. Oh and please remember that all prices are subject to change and some require an extra 10% tax added. In fact, use this page as an estimate only. I have not been able to get my hands on any pamphlets in almost a year, so the prices may have gone up or down. Most of these companies I am sure will be in business for years and I still hear about them but they may change their schedules or programs. I hope that this site will remain mostly up to date on its own but if you notice a big blunder, please inform me!
Many thanks to the Cancun Tips Magazine and the Mexican Caribbean Magazine, as well as the hundreds of pamphlets I have collected from different businesses and government sources.

1. Water Sports!!!!

Things like water skiing, parasailing, knee boarding, bodysurfing, snorkeling, diving, volleyball, swimming, big bicycle riding, and countless others are some of the fun activities available through hotels and private businesses. So if you are one of those people who are interested here is how to start.

First of all, ask your hotel if they offer any kind of water sports (usually most of the beach side hotels do) and get a schedule and list of prices. Easy enough, but if your hotel does not offer sports, ask for information on places that do -- even look them up in the phone book or ask other tourists. It would be a good idea to shop around as well, and get comparative prices if you want to save money.

2. Snorkeling and Diving

There are countless tours offered for great snorkeling and diving. Again, your hotel would probably know more than I do about which companies are the best, where they go, what times, prices and details like that. But I do know that the best snorkeling and diving areas are off the coasts of Isla Mujeres, Cozumel and Xcaret, oh and a great place to dive is the cave of the sharks (ask the tour places if they go there). Just remember these two things if you decide to go:

Divers: You must carry your certified diving licenses and any other diving licenses with you, in order to dive. If you want to rent equipment and go on a tour, they will ask for this license.

Snorkels: It is ok to swim near the coral reef but try to stay away from getting too close to it, lots of people get bitten, stung and cut by fish and sharp coral.. Look but don't touch ok.

And it is forbidden for either divers, swimmers or snorkels to wear sunscreen/tanning lotion in many areas like parks and reefs as it leaves oils (even waterproof stuff) and will kill marine life and coral, NO EXCEPTIONS. Best to wear a t-shirt.
