Wandering Around in Patagonia
Here are maps of the area around
Lago General Carrera. Note that on the Argentina side the lake is called
Lago Buenos Aires. All of the indicated roads in
the right (detail) map are gravel on the Chilean side. The red line on the detail map
shows the route. The red circle on the map at
the left shows the general area. This is going to be on the quiz.
A different place:
Here is a view of Punta Arenas, on the Straits of Magellan. In the distance
is the island of Tierra del Fuego. I first came to Punta Arenas in 1978
on a Yamaha XS650 street bike that I rode down from California.
Best viewed at 800 x 600 resolution. Image
preparation was accomplished by a combination of VuePrint, Adobe PhotoDeluxe,
and an HP1170. Web page construction was primarily done using Netscape
Composer. We avoid Microsoft stuff when practical.
