Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus or SCUBA diving is a fun, adventurous, and a social activity that one can enjoy whether in New York or on vacation.
Learning to scuba dive is educational, safe and easier than you think. At the Village Divers we conduct PADI sanctioned classes in an entertaining and low pressure atmosphere. Learning to scuba dive is a two part process. The first part is a scuba course that consists of classroom and pool instruction. In this course you learn the why and how of diving. This is where most of the work is done. In the classroom we teach you the basic theory of scuba diving, then in the pool we teach you how to scuba dive and what to do if something goes wrong. In other words, we train you to become a good and safe diver. The course lasts for two weeks where we meet twice a week for a total of four meeting. If you need additional training, we will be happy to provide it to you at no additional charge.
The second part is the Open Water Training. You can either do it in New York or on vacation. This part involves four supervised open water dives over two days, where a PADI certified instructor evaluate's your skills in an actual diving environment. The purpose behind Open Water Training is to put everything you learned in the classroom and pool together. Your skills are evaluated, and you get a chance to further build your confidence, and experience diving in an actual environment. We have trips to local and Caribbean destination throughout the year. For more information please call or ask your instructor. Once you are done with your training, a PADI certification card is issued to you. The card is recognized worldwide and has no expiration date.
