WORK and LABORATORY EXPERIENCE
ENGINEERING & VOLUNTARY WORK (1987-1997)
1998-up to date: Vice chairman and Academic Secretary of
The Sudanese Engineering Society in UK & Ireland (SESUKI): a
registered UK-based National & Overseas Charity Organization (Reg.
No. 1052778) and a volunteer with Oxfam charity organization.
1996-to 1997: Treasurer of The Sudanese Engineering Society
in UK & Ireland (SESUKI):
1995-1996: Deputy General Secretary of the Sudanese Engineering
Society in the UK & Ireland (SESUKI).
1984-1985: Deputy President of the Association of Western Kordofan's
Students in University of Khartoum (Sudan).
.
1987-1990: Teaching assistant at Civil Engineering
Department (University of Khartoum-Sudan) (involved in tutoring & laboratory
demonstration) and part-time lecturer at Wad-al-Magboul Institute of Geology
(El Kadroo, Khartoum-North).
LABORATORY TRAINING (1990-1995)
GENERAL RESEARCH FIELDS
-
Chemistry and microstructure of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and blended
cements involving OPC plus ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS)/pulverized
fuel ash (PFA)) and alkali activated GGBS.
-
Alternative building materials and blended cements.
-
Toxic Waste Solidification/Stabilization by Cementitious Binders.
-
Relationship between microstructure and permeability/ions transport through/within
matrices of cements. Developed (as a part of PhD research) a new electrochemical
method for isolating factors affecting ion diffusion (EMIFAID) in solidified/stabilized
(S/S) wastes and highly porous cementitious matrices. The EMIFAID predicts
the diffusion coefficients from evaluting chemical parameters (acquired
from pore solution) and electrical parameters of the S/S waste matrix and
its pore solution (measured using ACIS).
