Missouri and Alabama

I went to Missouri and Alabama October 1-7, 1998. Recommended places of interest in Missouri are Grant's Farm in St. Louis and Maramec Spring Park in St. James. Grant's Farm is the home of the Budweiser Clydesdale horses. It is a vast beautiful area filled with wild animals, lakes, a petting zoo, exhibits, and shows. It is home to more than 500 animals from six continents which are viewed from the tram that you board at Grant's Station. Maramec Spring Park is a wildlife refuge where trout are raised and contains waterfalls, beautiful scenery and the remnants of an old iron mill. The best restaurant we ate at was Cancun, a Mexican restaurant in the Northwest Plaza Mall near the St. Louis Airport. It is on Lindbergh Blvd. I had the shrimp quesadilla, and it was absolutely delicious.

In Tuscaloosa, Alabama, I recommend a tour of the Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plant (phone 1-888-2tourMB to make reservations) and a visit to the Gulf States Paper Company Japanese Garden and art gallery (phone: 205-553-6200).
