From 1990 to 1993, I worked for Lintas India Limited, then India's # 1 ad agency ( it's Hindustan Thomson now). Lintas, a part of the Interpublic Group - that also has Mc Cann Erickson in its fold - is headquartered in Mumbai (Bombay then).
I worked in the Client Servicing function for the first two years and in the Media Planning function for the next two. I headed the Media Planning team for Unilever's Personal Products Group, starring such wonderful brands as Close-up, Fair & Lovely, Pears and Pepsodent.

Late 1993, I joined ITI Pioneer AMC Limited in India, a joint venture between the H C Kothari Group and The Pioneer Group of Boston. Starting as Marketing Manager, out team launched the first open-end mutual funds in India under the banner of Kothari Pioneer Mutual Fund, and I daresay, the funds performed well, setting new standards in shareholder services and turnaround times.
