On the road > Itineraries

To make your travel to South-East Europe easy, you can find some itineraries till Turkey and Greece. The given itineraries below are from Austria (Vienna) via Hungary - Yugoslavia / Romania - Bulgaria to Turkey (and Greece) v.v.
There is one itinerary via Yugoslavia (Sirbia) and three via Romania:

1. The only road via Yugoslavia (Sirbia) is at the moment not advised due to airstrikes by NATO. The bridges over the Danube river near Novi Sad and Belgrade are bombed, therefore this itinerary is not usable.
2. The road via Arad - Timişoara - Drobeta Turnu Severin - Calafat  (border crossing only by ferry) - Vidin - Sofya to the Turkish and Greek border is between Drobeta Turnu Severin and Vidin along the Danube, which is also the Yugoslav-Romanian border. This part along the Danube can be unsafe during the current hostilities.
3. This road via Arad - Timişoara - Drobeta Turnu Severin - Craiova - Bucharest - Ruse (border crossing over the Danube bridge) - Harmanli to the Turkish and Greek border is only 30 kilometers along the Danube river.
4. This road is the only one not along the Danube river. It goes via Arad - Sibiu - Bucharest - Ruse (Danube bridge) - Harmanli to the Turkish and Greek border.
