My father's ancestors come from Scotland, England and Switzerland
Many of them left their homes to follow the saints to a place where they could worship freely as they wished. They followed the advice of the living prophet and traveled with the Mormon pioneers to Utah. They settled in small towns in southern Utah where my father was born. Robert was born on October 26, 1926 in Provo, Utah. He was the oldest son of Hugh Cheney and Ella Gladys Barker. His younger siblings are: Ella Florine, Orrin Dale, John Carroll and Terry Gene Anderson. He was married to Carol Christensen on March 8, 1948 in the Manti temple. Robert is happiest when in his shop doing woodworking, assembling model airplanes or toys for his grandchildren. He has worked as an automobile mechanic, jewelrist, cameraman and accountant. He designed and built his own home where he and his wife still reside in Orem, Utah. He is self taught in many skills and has given service to many neighbors, friends and family with his self-taught knowledge. Robert and Carol have four children: Kirk Robert, Ruth Elayne, Janet Marie and Shauna Rae.
