The Main Street Cinema
The Main Street Cinema operated from October 1, 1971 - April 1998, and was replaced by a shop. Fortunatley, the shop still has one movie screen, which plays cartoons and movie previews. This was a great attraction to take in on a hot busy since most people walked right by this air-conditioned theatre. The main film that was shown here was Mickey's Big Break--a film that showed how Mickey Mouse was chosen for his first cartoon, Steamboat Willie. In the humorous film, Mickey went to an audition and was quicky discovered. Roy Disney, Walt Disney's nephew, played the role of his famous uncle, and Micheal Eisner, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, also made an appearance. Classic Mickey Mouse cartoons, such as Steamboat Willie, and Plane Crazy, followed the film.

The following memory is from Shaili:
My high school band was on a Magic Music Days visit (we were performing in the park) and I remember it was raining hard on one of the nights. My best friend and I hurried into the Cinema and we watched "Steamboat Willie" eight times! We memorized the lines and everything... it was great. It eventually stopped raining outside, but we still remember how much we LOVED that cartoon. I can't believe they removed that old place!
