With a monorail gliding silently through it's interior, Disney Cotemporary Resort has a design that is clearly futurisitc. It's remarkable 15-story A-frame tower offers breathtaking views of The Magic Kingdom; and with it's two garden wings, it contains 1041 rooms. All rooms contain a day bed and two queen-size beds, plus a large bathroom; and many have a balcony. The monorail enters the resort at the fourth floor, and the interior of the tower is open from there to the top, creating a large open space called the Grand Canyon Concourse. On one end of the concourse, from floor to ceiling, is an amazing 90 foot-high tile mural depicting a variety of southwestern scenes. The many recreational activities at this resort include volleyball, waterskiing, basketball, fishing, parasailing, boating, two arcades, swimming, tennis, and a health club. For swimming, there are two pools, one with a 17-foot high water slide; and wading is permitted on the beach. For food, there is the Concourse Steakhouse, the Contemporary Grounds bar, the Food and Fun Center, the Outer Rim lounge, Chef Mickey's, the Sand Bar, and the California Grill and Lounge, which is on the tip top of the resort offering a spectacular view of The Magic Kingdom's fireworks. They serve burgers, salads, sandwhiches, steaks, seafood, pasta, pizza, prime rib, drinks, snacks, etc. The shops at Disney's Contemporary Resort include The Contemporary Woman, The Contemporary Man, Fantasia, Kingdom Jewels Ltd., Bayview Gifts, and Concourse Sundries & Spirits. They sell clothing, Disney character merchandise, jewelry, books, snacks, and even fresh flowers.

Interesting and little known facts

-if you look carefully enough at the huge tile mural in the Grand Canyon Concourse, you'll be able to spot a five-legged goat!

-in the construction of Disney's Contemporary Resort, the tower superstructure was built first; and then the rooms, which were built and partly furnished elsewhere, were slid into the tower like drawers!
