A Mayan oasis comes to Walt Disney World in the form of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. This beautiful resort has a Southwestern/Mexican theme, evident in the striking Spanish-style architecture, complete with a large Mayan pryamid. The resort's 1,967 rooms are located in several buildings spread out around Lago Dorado, a beautiful 15-acre lake, giving the reosrt a relaxed and peaceful air. The rooms are divided into three different sections: the Ranchos, the Cabanas, and the Casitas; the latter containing most of the suites. The design of each section is different, but with many similarities creating a feeling of community. Adding to this feeling is the unique food court, called Pepper Market. It looks and functions like an open-air market, selling tacos, tostados, pizza, pasta, and omelettes made to order. Other food choices include the Maya Grill, a full-serve restaurant that serves seafood, steaks, lamb, and pork; Francisco's and the Siesta Pool Bar & Grill, both of which serve cocktails and light snacks. Recreation is plentiful at this reort, with such offerings as biking, a fully-equipped health club, a wide variety of boating, two video arcades, volleyball, a wonderful playground, and above all - swimming. Each section has their own small pool, but the main pool is the big attraction. In the shadow of a towering Mayan pryamid, this huge pool features a long, twisting waterslide, a large whirlpool, and a kiddie pool. The only shop at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is Panchito's Gifts and Sundries, which sells Southwestern-themed merchandise such as pottery and jewelry, along with a wide variety of Disney merchandise.
