With it's gabled roofs and carved moldings, Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort stands out like a Victorian palace, and is by far the most luxurious of all Walt Disney World resorts. Based on the grand hotels of turn-of-the-century Florida, the red-roofed resort with it's towers and dormers is a wonder to behold. The stunning five-story lobby completely immerses guests in an Edwardian atmosphere with its stained-glass domes, shimmering chandeliers, aviary, and grand piano. To get to the upper floors, guests can climb the grand staircase, or take the open-cage elevator. The resort's large rooms, which are just as elegant as the rest of the resort, contain two queen-size beds, a daybed, and a host of other amenities. Recreation at this resort includes tennis, a wide variety of boats available for rent, a video arcade, and an excellent Spa and health club. For swimming, there is a 275,000-gallon swimming pool and a lovely white-sand beach. This resort has a large number of restaurants which include Citricos, Gasparilla Grill & Games, the Grand Floridian café, Narcoossee's, 1900 Park fare, Garden View, Mizner's, Summerhouse, and the most exclusive restaurant in Walt Disney World, Victoria & Albert's. They serve steaks, seafood, chicken, Mediterranean fare, snacks, etc. The shops at Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort include Summer Lace, Sandy Cove, M. Mouse Mercantile, Commander Porter's, and a Bally leather-goods store. They sell clothing, sundries, character merchandise, etc.
