Norway

The Norway pavilion is made to look like a small Norwegian village, complete with a stave church (a style of Norwegian church architecture of which only 28 exist today) and a viking boat. The main attraction at this pavilion is Maelstrom, a ride where guests seated in Viking longboats experience the spirit of Norway. The ride starts off with vikings, and then guests enter a Norwegian forest where you come face to face with mythical trolls who send you over a waterfall backwards. Run-ins with polar bears and puffins follow, and it's not until you meet another troll and are sent over another steeper waterfall that you resume travelling forward. A short, nice film entitled "The Spirit of Norway" follows the ride. Housed inside the Stave church is a small exhibit on the history of the Stave church. The restaurants at Norway are Akershus and Kringla Bakeri og Kafe. They serve pastries, seafood, salads, cheeses, waffels, etc. The only shop at Norway is The Puffin's Roost , and it sells sweaters, Norwegian candy, toys, jewelry, and trolls.
