Nairobi, Keny - 5/4/97
... I did think up a really good intro but I didn't write it down so I'm thinking now that I'll write a conclusion instead! You could quote me as saying "Well it seemed like a good idea at the time", "The wind just sort of pushed me this way" and "Well it sure beats Ipswich". More seriously though I was looking for a challenge, mentally and physically (but it's not been that challinging so far). It's not actually that difficult to travel Africa and unfortunately we've naturally taken the route of least resistance and found that there are cars and there are roads (tar) and cities and trains and you don't NEED to walk and trek for days to cover any part of it. And we've not made it difficult for ourselves (except Mozambique possibly)...
Now you know how you start a letter coz you've got a minute then you start a couple of others? Then they all get put aside for breakfast and before you know it you're in India and it's the 30th MAY! REALLY! Bloody stupid innit? Now it's the 31st... Why didn't I write more yesterday?.. I don't know, because I went to the beach maybee?........
I'd say that sums up Ian and explains his motives pretty much perfectly...
