Summary : Ipswich MAG - '97 AGM
Date : 11/4/97
Committee 97/98:
Rep - Tracy Crane
Don't laugh - it's true! And she's got her munchkins all around her on the committee.
It's the skillful political manoevering of last year that impresses me - spend all year stabbing the current Rep in the back, crippling the group as you go, then mount a full scale 'surprise' attempt at the position at the AGM... when the current Rep has made it clear all year that he's standing down anyway!!! Awesome!
You might also enjoy the letter I put in MAGNEWS:
So long and thanks for all the fish.
If I have one lasting memory of my year as Ipswich & District Rep it's of a guy I hadn't seen before who came up to me at the February meeting (this year) and told me that he'd stopped coming to Ipswich MAG dos a couple of years back because the group was so cliquey. The recent newsletter persuaded him to come along to the meeting and with the change in atmosphere, he felt he could again get involved in MAG. I was well chuffed.
Due to other commitments I couldn't stand for re-election but if you were at the February group meeting you'll have had a taste of the in-coming committee "in action" at the end of the meeting and you'll be as convinced as I am that they are perfectly placed to take over the group in March and continue to run things with the same competence and style as they displayed then.
A big thanks to those who have helped me this year. Beer and peanuts!
You'll remember how Neil Liversidge slapped Tracy down at the end of the MAG AGM in Sepetember '96 for taking cheap shots in AOB... well, she did the same thing yet again at the end of our February group meeting and we had a right old slanging match - hence the reference to her 'competence and style'. As for the fish, beer and peanuts - Hitch Hiker's Guide?
Well, as you said Martin, "It could have been so good, but it wasn't, it was sh*t".
Ho-hum, See ya,
Dave
