Schwartze Kirche, Kronstadt

The Lutheran "Swartze Kirche" of Kronstadt (Brasov) earned its nickname as the result of a serious fire that blackened the exterior stone in 1689.   Construction of the Black Church began in 1383 and continued until completion in 1477.  The Kronstadt's Black Church has an active German congregation today, centuries after German merchants established a church here.
