Pictures of our Ponds!

This is our Big Pond! It is about 1000 gallons. It is the second pond we built. It has several water lilies and a large assortment of water plants. It also has about 6 Koi, and many Comets and Goldfish. The comets have babies over the summer that are now inside in a 55 gallon aquarium. They have mostly turned orange although a few are still turning and a few turned white instead. Know anyone who wants some fish?!  Every year the fish have tons of babies.
Our 2 original Koi died this year, but we have added a pretty shiny gold Koi, a couple of white ones, a multi-colored one, a black and white one and a Shubukin (many colored Comet).

This is our first pond. It is about 110 gallons. Notice our rock seals?  We had goldfish and comets in it last year but it is too small to stay open over the winter so we moved the fish and plants to the big pond for the winter. Next spring we will put the babies in it. Know anyone who wants some fish??!!!

These are some of our fish. The multicolored ones are Koi and the two orange ones are Comets. I want more Koi, but with all the babies, we are running out of room in our ponds! We will probably give most of the baby fish to the pet store to sell after the winter. We want to make sure they are too big to be sold as "feeder" fish though.  This year (1999) our two original Koi died.  They were Whitey (a white, orange and black Koi) and Blackie (a 1/2 black 1/2 red Koi).  I think Whitey died because the pump quit and they didn't get enough oxygen and the big fish die first from that.  Blackie died because I forgot I left the water on when topping up the pond and I put too much new water in.
