The Parasuram Kund, 21 KM from Tezu, is a holy place of the Hindus, where pilgrims from all over the
country come for a holy dip during winters (Makar-Sankranti). According to the Kalika Purana,
Parasuram washed away his sin of matricide here. The place is also ideal for rafting and angling
on the river Lohit. There is a large lake called Glow Lake which can be reached on foot by one
day of climbing up and down hills. The divine beauty of this area will definitely hypnotize a
nature lover.
Hillocks about 50 feet high rises above the road level are two level grounds. The first one is a
narrow strip along the course of the river bed and gently slopes to the west. The fair, during
Makar-Sankranti is being held here. About 10-20 feet above it, there is a vast plain with plantation
that almost ends in a point where Namsai-Chowkham-Parashuram Kund roads meet the 'fair weather'
road that passes across the mela market. A small clearing beside this accomodates the hall and
guest quarters and this section is named Parshuram Nagar.
