Town of the Ionic coast (15m s.l.m.) dominated from Cape Sant'Alessio. Sant'Alessio Siculo is situated all along the coast and the Sicilian Oriental road (SS114 or E45), from Cape Sant'Alessio to torrent Agrò. The town rose near the Cape, and it was developed in successive ages around to a Castle built on the rock. Then, these lands were under the domination of Arabs, Normans, Spaniards. The Castle was rebuilt during 1800 by British.
Capo Sant'Alessio  In this photo we see that Cape Sant'Alessio ends with two peaks: side mount rises the castle, while on sea side there is one guard tower. The castle is today not visitable inside because it is private property and therefore you can admire it from outside.
The municipality was costituited in june 1948, separing from municipality of Forza d’Agrò.
Sant’Alessio Siculo is today a pretty tourist and commercial town, where you can spend a good summer holidays at the seaside.

The following information are given by Sant’Alessio Siculo Municipality. © 1999 and updated to january 2000:
Sant’Alessio Siculo is situated 9Km north of the Taormina motorway exit on the ancient Roman Consul Valeria road (SS114), overlooking the deep blue Ionian sea and protected by the Promontorium, as the Romans called it. Sant’Alessio Siculo is in perfect harmony with the treasures that characterise it. It has a splendid beach, which is suddenly interrupted to the south by a pretty bay with the overhanging rock of the Promontorium. The shoreline varies from soft to sandy an granular.
The history of this town is linked to the Cape with the Castle high above it, built by British in the early 1800s. The origins of the town, however, are ancient, dating back at least to the Greek period when its first inhabitants called it Arghennon Akron, Cape Silver. To the north there are numerous caves and caverns, one which, called ‘a rutta ‘i menzu and accessible to boats, contains splendid specimens of marine flora and fauna. Southwards you find a series of rocks and pools, proving an ideal habitat for all kinds of shell-fish, particularly in the Salò inlet.
The town still conserves some buildings of historiacla and architectural interest: at S. Margherita you can see a Bourbon barracks dominated by Trinacria with the heat of Gordon, surrounded by horns of plenty and spikes of corn, symbols of abundance and fertility, and with the remains of the apse of an ancient church; in Sant’Alessio vecchiu there is the 17th century church of the Carmel, the fisherman’s parish church; in ‘u quarteri ‘i menzu there is a getaway from 1770. The pretty and well-tended citrus groves in the Lacco district fill Sant’Alessio Siculo with the beautiful fragrance of the blossom from the lemon trees. The clean, crystal-clear sea is a great attraction and tempts you to spend the summer on the beach, where the sun is hot but not too much, in a modern town with an ancient past, destined to become one of the best-known holiday destinations.
