Our Parents Came to Visit Us 19 November — 4 December 1999 We had an extensive schedule of events for the visit of our parents. All along, we took a lot of pictures. We checked out some views of the city of Santiago from Cerro San Cristobol, a hill from which you can see many sections of the northern part of the city. We are trying to show them our apartment building. We should have remembered our binoculars!

It has been interesting for all of us to watch the construction of this apartment building just outside our windows on the south side of the apartment. It has grown two stories at least during the visit, so the action is getting even easier to see. It is supposed to be a 16 story building. We are on the 16th floor, so it will be interesting to see how it changes our view.

More sights of interest Over an hour north of Santiago, we saw the statue at the left commemorating a battle to gain freedom from Spain. At right we enjoyed this enchanting view from a restaurant in Viña del Mar.

We took Adella and Daddy to see the Prince of Wales Country Club which we have joined. After enjoying lunch on the terrace, we walked around the grounds to show them the facilities and activities that are available.

This is the first of many lessons Artie has given them on using the computer. They are now more comfortable sending and receiving E-mail. We are proud of our parents in their mid 80s and willing to learn new skills.

Adella is Artie's mom and Daddy is Margy's father. They have been married for over 7 years.
You can see Adella's delight at seeing one of the many parrots that Franz and Maria Elena have on their farm. Adella had a parrot for many years from childhood into adulthood.
