Wilsons Promontary National Park offers unspoilt beaches and long walks through the Australian wilderness and forests. It is very popular and accomodation is scarce. The Prom is the southern tip of mainland Australia up to 5-10 degrees colder than Melbourne.

There is camping at Tidal River in the park. Squeeky Beach is a one hour walk to the next bay. Mount Oberon is a one hour walk each way from the carpark and offers great views from the top. Other longer overnight hikes are to Oberon Bay along the coast past high dunes (5 hours each way) or Sealers Cove across the Prom over high hills through dense forest then descending into swampland before reaching the very shallow bay where it is possible walk far out at low tide (8 hours each way). Even longer are hikes to the southern tip of the promontary or to the less visited northern beaches. Take your own stove if staying overnight. Detailed maps of the park are available
