The Yarra Valley has 36 wineries and 56 vineyards, most of them small. Many offer wine tasting and some of the bigger ones have restaurants such as the Italian De Bortoli winery. Further up where the valley becomes narrow is the pictureque little town of Warburton. From there it is 30 minutes drive to Mount Donna Buang, the closest snow to Melbourne but only suitable for sightseeing and snowball throwing and then only in July and August.
