Kaeng Khut Khu

rapid on the middle of the Maekhong River at Amphoe Chiang Khan creates a narrow but extremely swift current. Immersed in and smoothed by the rushing water for countless years, the rocks produce multi-colored scenes of unique beauty.

Phu Kradung National

Park Located on high plateau, about 70 kilometers from Loei on the Khon Kaen – Loei Highway. Lush and fertile, it is the home of many types of wildlife. With an elevation of 1,325 meters, the Park is ideally suitable for cold climate plants and trees.

Pha Lom Sak

Attractions and Places of Interest Places of interest in the area of the park are Pha Nok Aen, the cliff which offers a breath-taking view of the crimson sunrise. Pha Lom Sak, a sandstone ledge jutting into space provides a fine view of the hills and valleys. And Pha Yiap Mek, cottony clouds suggest a misty world of shadow figures.

Phu Kradung

Accommodation Bungalows and tents are provided by the National Park Division, Royal Forestry Department and prior reservation should be made through Tel. 5790529, 5794842 , 5795734, 5797223. As for private accommodation, contact Phu Kradung House. Tel. 2700090 The National Park is closed during June - September every year for restoration.

Phu Luang Wildlife

Sanctuary Located on high plateau with an elevation of 1,550 meters. The areaof Phu Luang covered several Amphoes, Wang Saphung, Phu Rua, Dan Sai and Phu Luang. Phu Luang forest is a blend forest of tropical and colder mate forest. Wild animals are abundant. Attractions and Places of Interest Points of interest are walking trail along the forest passing pine trees, grass fields, wild orchids and other wild-flowers, cliffs, view points, etc.

Phu Luang

Phu Rua National Park 1.375 meters above sea level, is another majestic mountain with a vast pine-covered plateau on top. A cliff shaped like the bow of a Chinese junk just out over the mountain.

Pha Sub Thong

Attractions and Places of Interest There are Kho Lon Noi, which offers a view of sunrise and beautiful scenery: Pha Sub Thong, a very steep cliff : Namtok Huai Phai, a 30 meter-high waterfall: and Phu Rua's Top, which provides a fine view of Huang and Khong River. Accommodation There are lodging provided at the park and prior reservation is needed by contacting the National Park Division, royal Forestry Department. Tel. 5790529, 5794842. Transportation Trains leave Bangkok Railway Station for Khon Kaen. from there a Khon Kaen - Loei bus to the market in front of the Amphoe Phu Kradung Administrative Office. Next, a mini-bus to the office of the Phu Kradung National Park 5 kilometers away. This is the starting point of the trekking journey to the park of the mountain. From there, a 5-kilometer long footpath leads to 'Lang Pae'. Then, after 4-kilometers walk along a pasturage you will arrive at the bungalows on Phu Kradung. At your convenience, the office provides you with porters to carry your luggages to the mountaintop. Bus from the northern bus terminal in Bangkok (Khamphaengphet2 Rd.) also depart for Amphoe Phu Kradun Bus Terminal in Tambon Pha Nok Khao. From there take a bus to the office of the Phu Kradung National Park and trekking from there on the top. Phu Rua's Top Transportation Out of Amphoe Muang on National highway no. 203 connected Loei with Phetchabun, at the 48 the kilometer mark is the Amphoe Phu Rua Administrative Office. Nearby you will see a sign of the Phu Rua National Park on the roadside which is in the area of Ban Nong Bua. The road to the park is 4 kilometers long. From there, it is 5 kilometers to the mountaintop and only vans and high powered motor cars can climb up.
