Dendrobium
Besides having the most colorful petals,many species of the genus Dendrobium would generate fragrance in order to attract the pollinators to ber ready for fertilization. The aroma glands on the lips would work harder during the day with high temperature. However, there are also various species of orchids which have beautiful fragrance during the night and would also ve ready for their fertilization.Orchides in tis genus have been considered the largest of the family due to the number of members at one thousand species and alone in Thailand we have found almost 150 species. The summer time is the only period with abundant flowers right after the winter season.

A small epiphyte,found growing on tree trunks in montane forests, such as Phu Luang,Loei province. Flowering is in summer.
Dendrobium thrysiflorum
An epiphyte found growing on tree trunks or rocky places in montens forests from the northen through the northeastern regions. Flowering is in summer.
Dendrobium chrysotoxum
An epiphyte found growing on tree trunks in deciduous forests from the northern through the north-eastern regions.Flowering is in summer.
Dendrobium senile
A remarkable species with hairy stems found growing as epiphytes on tree trunks in montane forests from the northern through the central regions. Flowering is in summer.
