Hiking on Hong Kong Island, near
our apartment |
|
Grace enjoying the personal
gardens put up around
the trail |
|
Retaining wall on the trail; the
government uses concrete
to hold back the soil and to prevent erosion. This trail
follows a water conduit, and is cut in to the side of the
hill. |
|
Grace by the waterfall; note the
potted plants cemented
into the rocks of the waterfall, done by the people who
keep their gardens on this trail. |
|
Hmmm.... what does this sign mean? |
|
Grace found this tree very
interesting - see the small
"berries" attached to the trunk? |
|
The trail follows along a water
conduit, covered with
concrete slabs |
|
A view from the trail - showing a
cemetary on the west
edge of Hong Kong Island. Grace remarks that this land
must be worth some serious money! |
|
Bamboo used for the scaffolding
during the construction of
a new building. The green mesh surrounding the poles is
to keep debris from falling away from the building. These
usually survive the typhoon-strength winds. It
is very
impressive to see these constructed by workers in
flip-flops! |
|
Grace plays in the train; this
park is just down the street
from our apartment. Unfortunately, we don't get
to play on
the train very often! |
