2002 is the day I went nuts or chow hui (run fire) in Hokien!!
I really had a terrible week and so tired of work so I decided to do
something exciting & chi kek to forget about my worries
and stress. Does
it work for me? Well... a bit :D I got to know about this place from
the internet. The rafting trip is operated by Rapid Fire
Adventure Sdn. Bhd. (04-4376828), after talking to Ardi (my
guide, cute guy ;)), he agree to put
me with some other people who is doing rafting on that day. It turn
out to be a great rafting trip! I like it very much and got to meet
some new friends too.
Where is Sungai Sedim anyway? Sungai Sedim is located in a small
kampong in Kulim. I drove from Penang and meet up with Ardi at
Hospital Kulim at 9.00am. I follow his motorbike to the rafting
place because I don't know the way. To get to Sungai Sedim from
Penang, just take the Kulim Highway. You need to pay RM1.00 for the
first toll and RM1.10 for the second toll. After exit the second
toll plaza, follow the road sign to Kulim High Tech Park, go
straight until you reach a T junction and turn left and follow the
way to Mahang/Kerangan. There is a small signboard with "Rekreasi
Arus Deras Sungai Sedim" at the T junction. The road is getting
smaller and narrow when you reach the river's up stream. There are
picnic places too but it's not fully develop as a recreation site.
Reach the starting point of the river about 10.00am. After
putting my life jacket and helmet on, I am ready to take up the
challenge! Before we start, we had to brave ourselves to jump into
the river. Crazy...! The river looks calm but the current is really
strong. After everybody had a
dip
in the river, it's time to learn how to paddle and boom! Boom means
hold on to the boat when the boat is going through the rapids. We
had a lot of booms along the river.
The best part of the trip is when our
boat flip over and I was swept away by the strong current. Luckily
two rescue persons were always on a look out and manage to pull me
out of the water. There is one part of the river with a big
waterfall. This is the most exciting part of the trip. Really feel
chi kek when our boat drop into the waterfall.
The full trip cost RM120 while half
trip is RM65. Equipments, certificate and lunch included. If you
want chi kek, then full trip is a good choice. Picture

point of the river. Click on
