Travel in TAIWAN
    "Isla Formosa"

I cut out many links which are easy to get on the internet. Links here I wish could be helpful for you when travel in Taiwan. I would say it's a bit pity that there are too many travelling websites I can guarantee you will need... are most in chinese, but too less in english after I poked around a long while. Therefore, I picked these links out, according to a localist's view and some suggestions from my friends, I wish these links could be essential and helpful for you. Furthermore, if you have any better or any links relate to travel in Taiwan (in english only), please email me to enrich this page.

I love traveling, which leads me become more sensitive about tourist prospect of my own country, especially after this time I came back from my backpack in europe this year(1999).I have to say I did lots of "walk"-and-see during that three months. After that I find out "Taiwan", my country, is also a very very beautiful place although it's small and "packed". But like old saying: "Small as the sparrow is, it possesses all its internal organs". I have to proudly say that just what Taiwan is.

In addition to Taiwan is a nice vacation destination, traveller should know something: (Books never mentioned)

1) If you prefer tranquility and quietness much more than bustle and hustle. Never go to Taipei city. But it sure has something you might feel interesting. Such like: tens of thousand motor scooters buzzing by or parked tightly in every corner of the city.

2) Do not consume too much time on eating! Taiwanese food(chinese food) is overwhilmingly famous all over the world. You can never imagine how Eating is important in Taiwan, you can easily buy "food""anytime and everywhere ",especially watch out the"Night Market" (The place where swamp with vendors at night)!

3) Don't be too astonished by the road sign(we "small" english letters below chinese characters)! You can buy maps easily at 24hrs convenient stores (7-11,K,Familimart ....etc) or book stores in and above all medium-sized cities or towns in short distance. But all travellers from western countries encounter a major problem: "You will find some spellings on the road sign differ from their spellings on your map." Well, not too worry, the spelling of those pronounciation will be unified soon.(My government said so."*smirk*").

4) Credit card phone is not prevalant(almost none) in Taiwan, so please use phone cards, or perpare tones of coins (There's 3 sorts of public phones, and both kinds of cards. Buy them in 7-11....etc)
