As my uncle used to say:  Birthdays are good for you, the more you have, the longer you live.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

Reunion '05:  As noted previously, July 1 is on Friday in 2005.  By careful calculation, use of a slide rule, calculator, computer and calendar, I have determined that the Monday following the first, will be July 4th, otherwise known as Independence Day.  We're planning a firecracker of a Marx / Gangel week next July.   We hope to gather beginning July 1, by providing transportation from the airport, bus terminal, Amtrak, or wherever needed (logically).  The first Great Gang Gathering, (code name G-3 provided by brother Don and endorsed by brothers Jim and Bill) will be Sunday, July 3 at the Bishop Miege (Mee-age) High School  "Commons Hall".  Miege is just down the road a piece from George and Lib's old house, and from Leo and Ann (M). Aberer's, Grandpa Aberer's, Nick and Margaret (G.) Fromholtz's, Joe and Margaret (M.) Hauber's; and just a stone's throw from Jim and Fran (M) Aberer's, John and Grace (M.) Magerl's, and if you have a good arm, from Fred and Mary Kathryn's.  Almost all of the above mentioned families were represented at Bishop Miege or St. Agnes High School, the forerunner of Miege.  Simply stated, Bishop Miege, at 5041 Reinhardt Drive is a part of the St. Agnes Church/School complex.  St. Agnes is at 53rd & Mission Road, and Bishop Miege is west, across the parking lot and ball diamond from St. Agnes.  For the old timers, it's just across a fairway and a green of the Old Mission Golf Course.  We'll have much more about the location and how to get there later.  Right now, just mark your calendar for July 1, 3, and the week following.  Incidentally, food and beverage will be provided at G-3.

The Marx/Gangel Mania, this month includes a list of the Mania Gang.  This is a list of all our gang who receive the Mania each month.  It has been requested by several gang members.

Sam and Ella {Geo M & Lib G} recently enjoyed a nice evening  with Paul Gangel {Herman – Agnes}.  Paul was in K.C. on Halloween evening and stopped by for a pleasant visit.

Michelle {Don-Geo M-Lib G} Kubik writes:  Hi Uncle Sam,  As you know, I have recently gotten re-married.  You will be able to meet my new husband, Mike, at the reunion next summer.  We are definitely planning on attending with the boys, who are now 11 and 8 years (Erik is in 6th grade and Bradley is in 2nd grade).  I will write something real soon to put in the Mania.  Just trying to get things settled down these next few weeks.  My new name is now Michelle Kubuk , (it's really close to Kuper, don't make a mistake).  As for now, my e-mail is still the same until I can get it changed over.  I am still coming to Mom and Dad's a couple times a week to check on them and check my mail.  Talk to you soon.  Love, Michelle.

The Mania, each month lists the birthdays (of those who have reported same) for the coming month.  Last month, in listing the November birthdays, one was glaringly omitted.  Bryce Michael Wendt, son of Lynn (Henley) and Jimmy Wendt in the future will be listed on November 3.  Grandma Cheryl notified Great Grandpa Sam {Geo M – Lib G.} that Bryce was born 11-03-04, at 8:43 pm, weighing in at 8 lb – 5 oz, and 19 inches tall.  Lynn and Bryce are both doing fine.

Linda, wife of Jim (George – Lib} writes:  I've been debating about sending this message.  I decided that I was doing what we get after others for doing – not letting each other know when something is going on.  I've had a hard place in a salivary gland on the left side of my face.  I had it checked by a doctor, waited two months and had her check it again because it was bothering me more and, I thought it was getting bigger.   She referred me to an ENT specializing in plastic surgery on the head and neck. I guess if you have to have your face cut open, he's the doctor to have.  Dr. Price wanted tests to see if it is cancer.  It needs to be removed and the surgery would change "a little" if it is.  I had 3 needles poked in it, which hurt like – OUCH!  They still don't know what it is.  The Pathologist suggested a low grade infection, but Dr. Price doesn't think so.  He said the entire gland should be swollen, not just the bottom of it.  It could still turn into cancer.  "It will" take over the nerves and paralyze my face.  So, I need to "Move along with this and get it taken care of.  It would be better in a jar."  He has to take the gland and "it" out and peel the 5 nerves off of it before they can remove it.  It's outpatient surgery and is to be done at Menorah Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 a.m.  We've had the bad news that my insurance isn't going to pay it unless it's more than $7,500.  I am getting the impression from the hospital that it may well be.  It's our busy time at work.  I'm supposed to be off 5 days.  I work in a two-person office; just the publisher and I.  Our book is to go to press Dec. 10.  If we don't make it, I probably won't have a job to go back to.  That would definitely help in paying the bills.  When you are saying your prayers, please say one for me.  Love to all,    Linda

Shirley Marx Valderrama {George – Lib}  was kind enough to send me this information….two days after I had the Mania Gang address list printed.  Hi Samnella,  Lysa (Valderrama) Topham {Shirley-Geo-Lib} and husband Karl have moved into a different home.  It's bigger and has some nice upgrades like pergo flooring.  It needs a little fixing up, like making space for the washer and dryer and putting up a fence in back and on one side.  They are very happy with it.  It's in an excellent neighborhood and is closer to Evan's high school.  It's about the same distance from me, but in a different direction.  They are about three and a half miles from the beach.  An old couple, evidently Norwegian lived there.  They had an old statue of a mermaid in the back yard.  Karl said that's the one thing he wanted to remain.  That pleased the old couple and they agreed to sell.  I have some recipes for Bonnie, so as soon as you get her address, let me know.  Karl & Lysa Topham – 30461 Alcazar – Laguna, CA 92677 – 949-364-3212.

Love to all,    Shirley

Cheryl (Marx) Henley {Sam-Geo.-Lib} announces that her daughter Alison plans to be married July 2, 2005.

Experience is that which you don't have until just after you need it.
