Basic Stats

Name: Debbie Joanne Winton

DOB: 8th June 1983

School: St Albans Girls’ School - took A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography in summer 2001

Present: June 2002: I started work at the Hertfordshire Trading Standards offices in St Albans in April as an administration assistant (again!) and am set to be there until I go to Uni.

Oct 2001: I am currently working full-time as a clerical and administration assistant at St Albans City Council.  My 3 month contract will end on 21st December 2001, in time for me to prepare myself for the great adventure!

Future career: I have accepted a place at the University Of Wales, Bangor to study Marine Biology and Zoology

Why have I become involved with Frontier?

My interest in Frontier and their work arose after seeing a poster at school about the Madagascar expedition. I contacted them and found out about their projects in other countries. After an interview and briefing session I was accepted onto the Tanzania Tropical Savanna and Madagascar Marine expeditions. Overall I will be spending 6 months as a volunteer with Frontier. I will be doing this in 2002 January - June as a gap year project before I go to University. I am looking forward to it tremendously as it will be an experience that would be difficult to find elsewhere. The work involved is hard but will provide training and practical experience that will be invaluable at University and in my career as I am planning to do Marine Zoology. On top of this there is also the opportunity to work towards a BTEC (Level 3) Tropical Habitat Conservation qualification whilst on a Frontier expedition.
