Julian California
November 20th & 21st 1999
Our 1 year Anniversary
After speaking to a few people about where we should go for our aniversary, we decided on Julian California. Julian is in the SanDiego Mountains and it is one of those "oh so small" towns that if you blinked while you were driving, you could very well miss it. We stayed at a really neet place called "Angels Landing Inn & Resort". It was really nice and very peaceful.
Wel to the right is the sigh that tells us where the Inn is at and if you look closely you can see the road that goes up to the right. When you get almost to the top of the raod you see the Yellow House looking building. The bottom of it is the office and I fifties dinner in the making. The top is 2 or 3 rooms you can stay in. Above that is another house, (Blue) not shown, That also has 2 or 3 rooms. Then up higher there is a green building which has 6 2 bedroom rooms and a "Rec Hall" in the Middle with a fireplace, TV and some couches. We stayed up there.
This is a panoramic view out side of our front door from our room. It was really charming.
These are pictures of our Bed Room. You can see the window there. That is where the view is at.
These are pics of our other bedroom. NO we did nto need it, but it was all they had left when we reserved it and it was giving to us at a discounted rate.
This is the Julian Museum. It has lots of neat things in it from the "Olden Days" Julian is a Old Gold Mining town. The picture next to it is of the tree that stands out side of the Museum. It is all decorated for Christmas.
To the left is the "Julian Jail" the sign reads:
Run by a citizen constable whose wife cooked for the prisoners,
this jail held suspects, often involved with whiskey and/or fists,
for trial and, if found guilty, for short terms imposed by the
justice of the peacs, long terms were not served here. Designed
and built for the County of San Diego for $1075 plus $62 extra
for overlooked grating and door, this reinforced site mixed
concrete jail ended the escapes common to the three wooden jail
that previously exsisted on this sit since 1872. County ownership
ended in 1952.
To the right is a Horse Drawn Carrige, you can get them to pick
you up at your Door, take you to Dinner and bring you back. It is
really a nic eplace to visit. A lot of the stores and restaraunts
are converted houses. We went to a craft fair that was held
inside of the town hall. The also have one of those Pie places
taht has the BIG windows so you can watch them making the pies if
you want to.
This is the "Pine Hills Lodge & Dinner Theater". The building to the right there is the bar, diner & dance place. (Live music) Big woodburning stone fireplace. They have really neat places to stay.
Well this is one of the "Swings" they have there for you to sit and relax in. To the left is where they have the Dinner Theater. We went there for the Dinner Theater but it was dark at the time and so we came back the next day to take pictures. Dinner was really good. it was All you can eat Bar B Q Chicken seasoned 4 different ways. Cooked outside there on the BBQ. The salad and stuff was good too, along with Garlic Bread, Baked beans & Mixed Vegies. The play was "A Christmas Carol" and it was really good. It was a Musical had 10 year olds to 50 year olds players. We both enjoyed it very much.
