Oh, Boy, about a five hour drive
from Agua Azul to San Cristobal! Arrive there pretty late at night
starving but happy. Hey, it's freezing outside! Didn't realized that this
beautiful town is at such an altitude. Look around for a hotel with Daren,
Mel, Andy, Rudi, Rie and Karen and find a cute place really cheap near
the Zocalo! Book a horse back riding trip at the hotel for the next morning
and then make our way into town for dinner.
The next day we go on our horse back riding trip and ride for 2 hours.
Of course I get a very uncomfortable and stubborn horse... Okay, I think
my horse wants to kill me! It keeps on walking really (I mean really) close
to the edge of the cliffs or trying to decapitate me by going under very
low branches with thorns on it... Well, unbelievably I'm still alive!!!
This picture is taken during our lunch break -we have an hour to check
out a small town with an unbelievable church. We all then go to the market
and bargain for sweaters, shirts and fruit and get most things 50% less
than originally proposed. Then back on my killer horse! I can't get that
stupid thing to gallop - it just wants to trot and shake me up and down
(of course that morning I didn't think of putting a decent bra on... ouch!).
Daren and Mel in the meantime are galloping away. But almost home Daren's
horse takes a wrong turn and throws him off while galopping! Oh, boy that
must hurt!
The same evening at the zocalo
- the meeting point. Waiting for Chris and Tracy who never show... Poor
Daren suffering after his accident!
Tracy at the beautiful Zocalo.
The next morning we drive to Canyon del Sumidero. We take a long boat ride through the huge canyon, seeing crocodiles, voltures and beautiful waterfalls. This photo is taken right afterwards and it's actually in the current GT brochure!!!!!!! Yeah!
