1996 Season

1996 marked the first time I experienced a really big, powerful Hurricane.  While I was still living in Oklahoma, my father had moved to North Carolina.  He was living in a house on the air station.  While he was working an all nighter, he came home to a pine tree through the room of our dining room ceiling.  So, we got moved to mainside, and the hurricane did us a favor.  Hurricane Bertha, I thank you for the larger house!
Bertha and Fran pounded the North Carolina coastline.  Both Hurricanes hit the North Carolina coastline packing winds speeds higher than 125 mph.  The eye passed through Camp Lejeune, NC.  I got to experience Fran, and this was the first Hurricane that I surfed.  Well, actually, I wasn't a surfer yet, so I was sponging, but it was still cool.  These two hurricanes drastically hurt North Carolina, and the woods still show the scars from these monsters.
