HULA O NA KEIKI 2004

On Saturday November
13, 2004, I volunteered my time to the Hula O Na Keiki 2004. This event was held at the Ka`anapali Beach
Hotel. I volunteered my time to do
community service because I didn’t really have anything to do on that
particular day so I wanted to make use of my time and it was also for a good
cause. I didn’t do this because my
friends were doing it. I signed up for
this because I wanted to help out our community by cleaning up. Listing this on my resume was another reason
I wanted to do this. It is my senior
year and I want to get involved as much as I can before my last high school
year is over.
We got to the
Ka`anapali Beach Hotel at 7:45 P.M.
When we first got there, we looked around for Ms. Saribay. When we saw her, she gave us our nametags
along with our coupons for our free dinner.
We got our dinner and went to sit down and eat until the event was
over. After we were done eating, we
took pictures and just sat around because the event was still not over. Finally, when the event was done, we headed
into the room. We started off by taking off the numbers from the back of the
chairs and stacked them up into piles.
Then we swept the floor and others vacuumed the carpet. We took the stage apart and swept the
stage. We folded all the tables and
rolled them all to the back. After
everything was clear, we put out round tables into rows of four and put chairs
around the tables.
I thought that this event was more than what I expected. I didn’t think it would’ve been fun but I was wrong. It was fun because we cleaned up the room with employees who work there and they were funny. We got free dinner and that was a plus. We didn’t only get free dinner but we got free desert also. At the end, we all took pictures. I’m glad that I volunteered for this event because it was a great experience and it was for a good cause for our community. I would definitely sign up for more community service work.
