Day 4 - Dead Sea

When we began our drive the morning of Day 4, with Heather at the wheel, I noticed a brick wall along side the road. The wall had a sign that said simply "+200". What I came to realize was that this wall was an elevation marker. We were headed down.

Soon, we stood at the lowest point on earth, over 400 meters below sea level. Masada stood over 440 meters tall, yet the top was only 40 meters above sea level.

(Above Right) After Masada, we stopped at a roadside spa on the Dead Sea. There, Heather and Lisa changed and went for a swim in the Dead Sea. (Right)

Since the water of the Dead Sea is around 30% salt and dense, floating is not a problem. Lisa is in the foreground floating easily. Heather may appear to be standing on the floor of the sea; however, she is in water over her head. The water allows her to float standing up!

Ellen stayed with me on shore. The weather was the attraction for us. Clear and perfect temperature.
