Paris, France

The two most famous women in the Louvre - Venus de Milo, and...
...Leonardo Da Vinci's lovely Mona Lisa. Notice the bulletproof glass - she was stolen in 1911 and recovered two years later.

Hotel des Invalides
Built by the Sun King to house invalid soldiers, it's now home to a huge military museum, the Musee de l'Armee, and Napoleon's tomb (he is beneath the gold dome)

Napoleon's Tomb
The "little emperor" is locked inside six coffins! The outside coffin is made of red porphyry with a base of green granite.

Well, if nothing else, Paris is certainly well-guarded! The manager of our hotel told us they are positioned at the monuments to deter terrorists. Comforting!
Another well-guarded spot, the base of the Arc de Triomphe, home of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Place de la Concorde
This is the spot where the guillotine was erected during the Revolution. The Egyptian obelisk on the left came from Luxor, and was carved around 1200 B.C.

The Champs Elysee
Sidewalk cafe on the Champs Elysee

Paris is extra special so I posted TWO pages of photos.
