Seville to Lisbon to Sesimbra

On our way to Lisbon, we stopped for lunch in Portugal. We saw many farms with cows, pigs and sheep. The countryside was very dry. We stopped in Elvas to stretch our legs and view the 16th century aquaduct.

We arrived in Lisbon at 6pm. That evening we had an excellent meal in the 8th floor restaurant. Our breakfast was also on the 8th floor where we had a good view from the window of a castle. Then, back on the bus for a tour of the city and travel to Sesimbra for another Carnival.

We stopped at the waterfront at "Monument of Discoveries" and Belam Tower. The Tower was built in the 16th Century by the same architect who built the aquaduct we saw yesterday. It was used to fortify the city. We also had a good view of the largest suspension bridge in europe. It was built by US steel and modeled after the Golden Gate bridge. We traveled over the bridge, passing a huge monument of Jesus with outstretched arms, similar to the one in Rio.

We stopped at a castle that overlooked the fishing village of Sesimbra. The castle had been turned into a cemetary. Our guide told us that Portugese like to hide their cemetarys which are put inside the castle walls. Castles are either turned into hotels (Posada's) or cemetarys. We arrived in Sesimbra at noon.
