A wonderful vacation in St.Lucia - continued

View from our balcony

Today I am scheduled for a Chandra Massage, Salt Loofah and Algae Whirlpool Bath! Pat has a Salt Loofah, Chandra and foot massage. My Chandra Massage was schedule for 9:30 AM, so we started to have a nice breakfast on the balcony, surrounded by our new little bird friends - they seemed very hungry this morning. Pat laid some crumbs on the railing and the next thing we knew - about 100 birds decided to join us!

We ended up having to go inside before we became their breakfast! If you come to the Le Sport … don't feed the birds!

A few minutes before 9:30 I started my hike up those 79 steps - I am getting very good at climbing these things! The Chandra Massage is a neck, shoulder, head & scalp massage using a variety of techniques to promote hair growth [which I don't need!], and to ease stress & tension. There are no oils used and all it takes is a chair & a pair of hands … and best yet - I didn't have to remove any clothing and get into trouble like yesterday! The treatment starts off with deep kneading & probing of the neck and shoulder muscles, then moves on to the head and scalp, finishing off with the ears [which contain so many acupressure points]. This was one of the most beneficial massages so far and I could barely get out of my chair because I was so relaxed! I think I will suggest this treatment for all employees where I work - I would have many happy co-workers and bosses!

As I was leaving my treatment, Pat was arriving for his Salt Loofah. I told him he would definitely snore when he got his Chandra - so he should warn who ever was going to give him that massage.hotel dining room I traveled back down those 79 steps and stopped in the dinning area for another breakfast of bacon, tomatoes, eggs, banana bread and coffee. I sat by myself watching the ocean, the waiters and other staff members came by to see how I was enjoying myself and joked about giving me some wine!

I went back to the room and changed into my bathing suit and sat on the beach for awhile, until I had to climb those 79 steps again for my Salt Loofah. Pat met me on the beach, telling me how much he enjoyed his Salt Loofah, and yes he started to fall asleep, but swears he did not snore! We stayed on the beach until about 11, seeing 2 topless swimmers this time - but no men falling over themselves to watch. I guess the 2 men from yesterday are probably in for intensive neck massages for the rest of their vacation!

We went to the dinning area for a buffet lunch, there is so much to chose from, but I was most excited to see Macaroni & Cheese! I have not missed a M&C lunch in 13 years - usually having this on a Friday, I figured I might not get another chance to have my M&C while at Le Sport if I held out until Friday! We were served wine with our lunch and I had a margarita - since I decided this is my margarita day!

Praying that I was not too tipsy to travel back up the 79 steps, Pat and I took off for our next treatments. A Salt Loofah is a body buff lasting about 20 minutes. I had to undress [I am starting to wonder if I am going to spend most of my time taking off my clothes!]. Sea Salt and massage oil is massaged on the body with a loofah mitten, removing dead skin cells, refining the skin texture and stimulates blood circulation. I must say that this felt wonderful - but I certainly needed a shower afterwards … so I was taken to the Swiss Needle Shower! This sounds like a torture chamber, but it is not. So wrapping a towel around me [properly this time] I walked to the shower area. The water was adjusted for me and I got into the shower, passing the towel to the attendant. The shower has fresh water jets that stimulate the whole body and removing the sea salt & massage oil. When the water stopped the attendant passed the towel to me and I walked back to the room and put on my clothes AGAIN.

Piton Mountains Pat and I decided to take an island tour tomorrow, so he was in charge of making the arrangements. On his way to the lobby to book our trip for tomorrow, he tripped on the step [actually a ledge going into the lobby] and hurt his big toe. With a bleeding toe that was turning black, he booked our bus tour of the island. He had to go back up the 79 steps [bleeding toe and all] to stop by the nurse's office for first aid.

I ran into Pat once more as he was getting ready to go for his foot massage and he told me what happened and showed me the toe that was looking quite ugly by now. Gee his next treatment is a foot massage and he has a toe that is swollen, bleeding and throbbing - I wonder what will happen.

I did not have another treatment for an hour … so back down those 79 steps for me! I stopped at the bar and got my drink of the day and went back to the room to relax on the "birdless" balcony for a while.me on the balcony The sunscreen seems to be working - I am not burned or even tanned - this is a good thing! Well before I knew it, I had to climb back up those 79 steps for my Algae Bath and passed Pat leaving his foot massage. I think they designed this place to force people to get exercise! I usually run a few of miles a several times a week, but I feel like I have gone many more miles up and down these 79 steps in just a day or so.

The Algae Bath sounded like I would have "things" in the water with me - maybe something like seaweed. It does not sound like a fun thing, but I discovered that I could go into this bath with my bathing suit on … I was ready, didn't have to take my clothes off .. wow oh wow! The tub was actually a whirlpool bath and the attendant placed some power like stuff in the tub and turned on the jets! She left me in the room alone and I just laid in this wonderful whirlpool bath looking out the back window at a beautiful garden. Talk about relaxing - I argued with her when she told me the time was up! Tried to trade a foot massage for additional tub time! No luck, so I went back down the 79 steps and stopped by the bar for my drink of the day!

Back in the room [now filled with empty glasses from drinks of the day by both Pat and me]Ocean in South St. Lucia I rested for a little while and prepared to go to the meditation class at 5 PM. Pat went to the beach and spent the rest of the afternoon between the beach and the pool areas. I was now fully relaxed and rested for my trip back up the 79 STEPS to the meditation class.

I think everyone was taking a rest because I was the only one that showed up for this class with Trevor. Since I was the only "student", Trevor and I went and sat in a grassy area behind the Oasis. He taught me some meditation skills and we talked for a while. He discovered that I had the ability to see auras, which seemed fascinate him. We walked down the 79 steps together and he made me some photocopies of meditation techniques from a book that he had with him.

The day seemed to fly by and it was dinnertime again. Our neighbors Gerry & Nadine were not be found - the lights in their room were off, so Pat and I decided to head down to the dinning room after getting cleaned up after our hard day of massages! Tonight is BBQ buffet night and we were very hungry - must be those 79 step exercises we have been experiencing all day is causing a great hunger.

In the dinning room, we have learned to seek out tables that are under or near the ceiling fans, since it is very humid and there are no walls in these rooms where an air conditioner would cool you off. We found a nice table for four because we knew that Gerry & Nadine would show up sometime during dinner. The waiters immediately came with the wine of the day and filled our glasses while we were off to scout up some FOOD!

This was a BBQ of elaborate proportions and style, the food being outstanding as usual and the desserts I am definitely going to die for! My bottomless wine glass continued to amaze me - how can one keep drinking and the liquid never goes down a drop - it must be magic! staff bandRichard, my guide & fire-eater stopped by and told us it was Karaoke night and he wanted us to join in the singing and have fun. He doesn't know what he is getting himself into - we have done this many times at home and once Pat gets on the stage - he won't get off! Gerry and Nadine had joined us by then and said, "no way would they sing on stage". Next Richard, our bodyguard stopped by and said we must sing tonight!

We were all tired, but decided to go to the bar/stage area to watch others singing tonight. Now you know this just didn't happen! We were sitting on the back wall near the beach when 2 gentlemen from England got up and sang American Pie very badly. They were so bad that everyone in the audience tried to sing louder than the Brits on stage - just to drown them out! Next thing we knew, Laurie and Jeff came by and said we have to sing! So out comes the songbook for our selection of the proper song to sing. We decided on "In the Still of the Night" which I would do the lead and everyone else would be my back up and sing the do-wap / do-wass…

Virginia joined us and now we had a group with no name. Since we are all from New Jersey [Laurie & Jeff], New York [Gerry, Nadine & Virginia] or Pennsylvania [Pat & me], we named ourselves the Tri-Staters.

Gerry & Nadine DancingThe excitement grew as we worked out our choreography and fought over whether we should get on the stage or sit on the edge of the stage and who would sing lead. Jeff, Pat and I became the lead singers, while the do-wappers worked on their "backup" dance steps! We decided to go for the full "on stage" appearance. There were four singers ahead of us so we drank and laughed until we heard on the microphone "Put your hands together to welcome the famous, wonderful and entertaining Tri-Staters". We were way in the back of the room and had to make our grand entrance going through the crowded tables and bar area - marching toward the stage like we really knew what we were doing!

We walked up the steps to the stage and lined up just like a real professional singing group, grabbed the 4 microphones [the do-wappers had to share, Jeff, Pat and I had our own microphones]. The music started and the words appeared on the screen and we began our show.

No one threw tomatoes or drinks, no one booed and we had a great time singing our little hearts out. I do remember that Gerry and Nadine said "no way" to this singing and they were now dancing and singing to a crowd of strangers. Virginia was a blast, she just fit right in with our strange new singing group and was ready for more. Jeff and Laurie were having the time of their lives. I was trying to sing and keep track of my backups who seem to be every where behind me doing who knows what!

When the song was over, we got a loud applause and we all took our bows and threw kisses to the audience as we exited the stage. We were not off the stage but moment when, Gerry, Pat and Jeff decided to sign up to sign "My Way". Another guy from America joined them and the girl Tri-Staters stood in the audience singing loudly and "directing" their 2nd attempt at wowing the crowd. This song was also a great crowd pleaser and the rest of our vacation people came by to say how much they enjoyed our "act". Hollywood here we come!!!!!!

After having a few more drinks of the day, we decided to all go swimming. Gerry, Nadine, Pat and I left the bar and headed for our rooms to change and add to our collection of "drink of the day" glasses now covering the table in our room. Laurie and Jeff promised to follow, but they never made it because they went to the indoor piano bar and never came out again!

We were having a great time in the swimming pool, laughing, swimming, floating in the water that was like a wonderful warm bath, when we spotted a security guard. We all put our hands up above our heads and yelled "busted"… the security guard laughs and said he didn't carry a gun! He came over and we ended up talking to him for a little over a half-hour.clouds & sunset When we told him we were going on a tour of the island, he took the time to tell us about "his" wonderful island and described the things we would see. You could hear the pride in his voice as he told about the beauty of the landscape and the people that live here. It was now 2:00 AM and we had to get an early start in the morning because our tour left at 7:35 AM.

Hating to leave the warm water of the pool we all got out anyway and started to return to the rooms, when Nadine let out a scream! The security guard, Pat and I ran over to her and she was "frozen" on the steps leading up to our rooms. She was yelling "tarantula" and pointing to a step… it turned out to be a frightened crab with long legs! The security had some trouble capturing it and we all begged him not to kill it. He said he would never kill anything, and picked it up and took put the crab on the sidewalk so it could continue its trip to the ocean and we continued our trip up to our rooms for a short night's sleep. I had ordered room service for 6:15 AM and had to make sure I was up and dressed to let in the staff member that was bringing our breakfast.
