The boom and mainsail were re-installed last weekend, and Sunday we were able to sail again for first time since the mast work. Winds were variable, but there were lots of boats out in the bay. We adjusted the tension on all the rigging; first at the dock, and then under sail. Everything is looking good on the rigging job. In changing the rigging, we removed the headsail furling gear, and this was the first time we have used the 130% Genoa since Tracy removed the canvas UV protection from the leech and the foot. It's a much better sail in light air now.

Well, the mast was stepped today, after being down in the yard for the previous 10 days. In that time, we sanded, prepped, primed and painted it, and replaced all the standing rigging with nice shiny, new stainless wire. A few other little odds and ends were added like a tri-color running light on the masthead for added visibility and safety. The mast was our last "big" job before we take off. It felt good to finish it.

At the moment, the photo on the main page isn't a very good representation. We have the mast removed this week for painting, and replacement of the rigging. The mast looks like a reject from the set of "Waterworld" with splotches of green zinc chromate. All the fittings that were screwed, riveted, or bolted on the mast are off, and the new rigging will go together this week.
