Our Story | ||||||
Under the oaks. on the banks of a muddy bayou stands The Camelia House, an old southern mansion with all of the charm and personality it's walls can hold. Classic and stately, the room reflects generations of owners, who have decorated the space with a mixture of southern artifacts and classic antiquities that give the room a sense of history and comfort. The Grand Ballroom, known to locals as The Louisiana Purchase, opens it's doors daily to welcome visitors who travel from miles around to taste the very best of traditional Louisiana cooking. Spicy gumbos, creamy Red Beans and Rice, crispy Fried Catfish and plump Oyster Poboys. When you walk into the space, flavors of garlic, onions and peppers swirl about the room as you pass a 25-gallon sugar kettle simmering today's gumbo. As you sit, you discover a basket of scratch buttermilk biscuits and cornbread. During the evening hours, the room loses it's butcher block table clothes and gives way to crisp linen and candles..... to compliment plates of stuffed Red Snapper, Soft Shell Crabs and Apple Smoked Pork Chops with Oyster Stuffing. In the corner, a small trio plays New Orleans classics.... while waiters flame Brandy splashed "Bananas Foster" tableside. It is the classic south, and an experience as comfortable as home.... wherever that may be. And a Los Angeles experience that is one of a kind. |
