Playa Coco is situated 35 km west of Liberia, and easily accessible by road from San Jose. It is attractively set between two rocky headlands, and a popular resort for young ticos in particular. The beach has a reputation for strong rip currents and is somewhat shabby and littered because of the high visitor use and the nearby fishing harbour.
